ABPANC Receives Reaccreditation of CPAN & CAPA from the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification

The Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC), is pleased to announce the American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification, Inc. (ABPANC) has been granted reaccreditation for the Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN®) and Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia (CAPA®) certification programs.

The American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification, Inc. (ABPANC) is responsible for developing, sponsoring, and managing the Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN®) and the Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA®) nursing certification programs. These national professional certification programs are designed for registered nurses caring for patients who have experienced sedation, analgesia and anesthesia in a hospital or ambulatory care facility. ABPANC currently certifies more than 12,600 perianesthesia nurses who have earned the CPAN and/or CAPA credentials.

Perianesthesia nursing is a unique nursing specialty requiring its own professional certification program as a means to protect the public. The CPAN and CAPA certification programs have maintained accreditation by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC), since 2004. “Reaccreditation is a testament to our unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of excellence and ensuring our programs remain relevant and impactful in today’s healthcare environment,” said ABPANC’s CEO, Sarah Royster, MBA, CAE.

ABSNC accreditation is a peer-reviewed mechanism that allows nursing certifying organizations to obtain program accreditation by demonstrating compliance with the highest quality standards in the industry.

The mission of ABSNC is to recognize quality specialty nursing and associated non-RN certification programs through accreditation. It is the only accrediting body specifically for nursing certification. For more information about ABSNC and its accreditation standards, please visit www.absnc.org.
