Recertification Option 2 - Continual Learning Program (Contact Hours)
To recertify through the Continual Learning Program, 90 Contact Hours of acceptable continual learning activities are required. The Continual Learning Program has several dimensions:
- A required number of contact hours - 90
- Direct and Indirect Care categories
- Time frame for earning contact hours
- Whether this is your first, second or third or more time to recertify. Please refer to the Recertification Handbook for a complete description of each of these elements.
As a quick overview:
First Recertification Period - If you are recertifying for the first time, you must earn a minimum of 60 contact hours in Direct Care. The remaining 30 contact hours may be earned in either Direct or Indirect Care.
Second Recertification Period - If you are recertifying for the second time, you must earn a minimum of 45 contact hours in Direct Care. The remaining 45 contact hours may be earned in either Direct or Indirect Care.
Third or More Recertification Period - If you are recertifying for the third time or more, you must earn a total of 90 contact hours. No minimum is required in Direct Care.
*All 90 contact hours may be earned in Direct Care if you choose.
